Associating applications with filetypes
So, there I was wanting to double-click on a .rtf
file
and have it automatically open in NeoOffice/J (instead of the default,
OS X's
Preview
, which isn't very good at text files).
As that would be a system-wide setting, I spent some time looking in
System Preferences
- to no avail.
Instead, file type associations can be changed by selecting a file
of the requisite type and opening the Get Info
dialogue
box. (Either click on the icon and type command i
,
or right-click on the icon and select Get Info
.
Under Open with:
select the application you wish
to associate with this file, and click Change All...
to make the setting valid for all files of this type.
